Troupe: Ultralight - One Page RPG Jam 2025 Entry

I wrote this up over the weekend and dropped it onto Itch yesterday. It’s my entry in the One Page RPG Jam.

Essentially, it’s a stripped down, setting-agnostic version of the Troupe TTRPG that I’ve been working on. It’s got the core mechanics but without any fantasy trappings, or any trappings at all. That said, I think it’s got a good base to build off of, if you, like I do, enjoy this system. Like Doomsday, it’s based on the Do Anything D6 dice-pool framework.

Nice work. It’s always a challenge to condense something you built down to the essentials.

Thanks. It’s hard to know if I got everything I need to get down, down in a way that communicates the concepts. Have you had a chance to read it?

Not yet, but will shortly.

It reads well and is pretty easy to grasp. Here’s a few things I noticed as I was reading through it.

Under Strain:
“they lose access to that number of their Hero Dice (HD)” reads a bit weird, the number part makes me think that it only restricts a certain number on the dice. Maybe something like “they lose access to that amount of Hero Dice (HD)” would resolve the ambiguity.

Under Resting:
“Once per hour, a 10 minute breather heals one strain. Once per day, a six-hour slumber heals two strain or one injury.” << Can you take each type of rest multiple times per day?

Under Extraordinary Abilities:
“Decide the difficulty by breaking the effect into steps :” << extra space before the :

I don’t think Death’s Door is ever explain, I assume it’s basically unconsciousness/death at next hit.
