A great Gloom is come: the fences between worlds has faltered— faerie hosts from far Yonderlands sally forth with force, weaving rack and ruin in their wake; while diminished lords dawdle in despondent decadence, hem their sovereignties in with stone and steel, or succumb to war’s distractions over small-minded claims. It is to you to defend what you love, drive back would-be subjugators, or find profit in these troubled times.
What is “Troupe: Doomsday”?
Troupe: Doomsday is a compact rules-light tabletop role-playing system for play within a troubled Arthurian world, divided, and harried by in-roads from Faerie. It uses a single mechanic, a six-sided die (d6) dice pool, for adjudicating all challenges Characters may face on their adventures.
The player rules for Doomsday fit on one letter-sized page with equipment, pre-made kits, and more, on the reverse page.
The referee rules are organized in a separate document which also consists of a letter-sized page, the front with general rules and guidance and the reverse side with information on the creatures of the world and a short sample bestiary.
This was inspired by the game that I ran at Too Many Games Con.
A +1 Staff of Water Elementalism
SPECIAL: dip the end of the staff into a barrel of water to turn it into wine. RECHARGE this power by leaving the staff to soak overnight in a barrel of wine.
I uploaded the players guide to Itch yesterday and DTRPG today (technically Itch too as I fixed a couple of little issues that I found). It’s 46 digest pages and explains the game in some detail. Working on the referees guide now!
This is not a post about crafting, really (sorry, not sorry), but about building things for purpose in a constrained time window— such as a raft to cross a river, a ladder for climbing out of a pit, or a temporary shelter to wait out a storm.
The seed word for this post is “challenge” but, rather than come at it literally, I’m going to look at a figurative challenge that I am facing: should attacks in combat always do something? If so, what?
Today, I put together a module for adding weapon effects for Troupe. Right now, it’s in closed BETA which means it’s available for patrons over on the Patreon. Once I get it finalized, it’ll get released in some form.
