I started reading “Il Pentamerone” (aka The Tale of Tales) for some inspiration and the first story features an encounter with a ghoul (sometimes translated as an ogre, it appears). It’s a funny little story. I decided to adapt that ghoul/ogre into a creature for gaming. Here’s my draft. Let me know what you think!
The Drau
The Drau is an unliving creature who was destroyed, in life, by their all-consuming gluttony. They are most often to be found lurking among the ruins of their former homes.
They usually appear in a monstrous form: a mishappen head with a broad snout and flared nostrils, a wide mouth from which two tusks protrude; a fur-covered body, elongated arms, and spindly legs.
Sapient and capable of speech, a Drau may converse with any creatures undaunted by their presence. When angry, they lash out with bestial rage.
If a Character will take an Oath of Service to the Drau and faithfully attend it for a year and a day, they will be rewarded with a treasure.
