Rumors, Random Events, and Adventures

On Friday, I went through my rumor tables on stream. I took some of those and, thinking about them a bit (and also generating some others), I realized that they could be combined to create an adventure of sorts. It’s very much on the vibes end of things-- adventure being really just a procession of events that players could interact with or not. With that in mind, I set it up as, more or less, a series of things that will happen, if nothing interrupts and changes things.

What I like:

  • You build up events that can just happen if there’s no interest. They just tick down until they resolve.
  • The events are very lightweight-- they don’t require much prep to spin up and present.

Challenges

  • It’s pretty vibes heavy; not a lot of structure if you need or want structure; you can add it, of course, but that cuts into some of the advantages.
