Lore 24! DMMC and the World of Claymore

Day 54

Voksen
People Group

The Voksen are a people group that inhabit a region that includes the area south of the Father Lake, and most of the eastern and western coasts of that lake. They are a water going people who build few roads, using the lake and rivers for transport instead. They vehemently and violently defended their indigenous religious practices during the Imposition of the Faith. A form of their religion, hybridized with the faith of Ignimius, survived until around the year 200. This religion was called Tro, practitioners—the Trofast. The language of the Voksen is called Northern.

Day 55

Tro
Religion
to c200

A heathen faith, whose practitioners were called Trofast, Tro was the indigenous religion of the Voksen heavily influenced by the faith of Ignimius. It prized greatness in battle and had no problem with murder, looting, or destruction, but stressed personal glory. The only taboos of the faith were cowardice and grave robbing. It taught that the god of Ignimius, Valroon, killed all the Tro gods, who should now be ignored and forgotten. Even with the death of the gods the Tro afterlife (called Bakke) survived. Trofast who died in battle would still be rewarded there after death. The heroic dead could bring a number of others with them to the Tro afterlife, commensurate with the greatness of their deeds in combat. All other Trofast would be punished by being subject to Valroon’s afterlife. This led to the worship of powerful warriors who died in battle. The Tro religion is known to have survived on Sanguineus Island until at least the year 850.

Day: 56

Father Lake Kingdom
Kingdom

At its height, the kingdom controlled most of the coastline of the Father Lake. The lake and adjoining rivers dominate the trade, economy, and travel of the area. Because roads are drastically less efficient, they were only built where absolutely necessary. The Kingdom is prosperous and has a healthy range of industries, including some of the best brick and tile making in the world.

I really dig that map! Is that hand-drawn or the product of an app?

Thanks

Its a snippet of a much larger world map. It is the most inefficient map in the history of maps.

First I roughed out the world map in paint. Then years later when I wanted a map to use at the table I would trace the outlines off a laptop screen on to 2’ by 3’ graph paper and hand draw regional maps.

Years later after doing that 3 or 4 times, I decided I wanted a world map so I SCANNED the hand draw maps back into the computer and stitched them all together, hand drawing and scanning in pieces that were missing. Then I colored the map with simple fill tools.

Every time I run a campaign I add details to the area we are playing in. When I add geography now I generally use GIMP, and make it look hand drawn. I have spent un told hundreds of hours on this map.

It would have been more efficient at this point to enroll in art school and actually learn to draw a map that looks nice!

Day 57

Astur
Region

At some points in history a dutchy, at other times a principality, occasionally independent, Astur is a region in Erend that encompasses the Hero Hills. It has been conquered several times, but it has never been fully assimilated by its conquerors. When occupied by the Khanate of Cordina Astur was a refuge for exiled Erendian nobility and partisans. The people and culture of Astur are closely related to that of Erend, while maintaining noticeable differences. The people of the region are called the Astura, or Asturians. They speak a mutually comprehensible dialect of Erendian.

Well I think I am out for Lore24!

I loved it while I kept it up and I have nearly 60 new or more tightly edited entries in the Encyclopedia of Claymore. But I just started a (semi) weekly campaign and am trying to start a semi-monthly campaign for my friends that live 2-3 hours away and can’t come to a more frequent game.

I think I need to move my efforts back to direct prep and rules.

I keep an adventure log of my campaigns if anyone is interested I’ll post when I get the first session done of the weekly campaign.

You did some great work! The activity should never go further than its usefulness! It sounds like you’ve got some great gaming going on. How many total campaigns will you have running with these additions?

After my long running campaign ended a few months ago, one of my players ran a BX dungeon crawl which was great. I hadn’t played for years.

But now I am starting up one campaign with those players and hopefully another with out of towners, so just the two.
