I wondered what would happen if I would try to fit a 3 mile hex onto the map of the Borderlands (from Keep on the Borderlands) and wouldn’t you know, the height of the thing is almost 3 miles (if google calculated feet to miles correctly for me).
So now I’m seeing wether or not I can map it onto a 3 mile hex and then extrapolate to a larger area, since I’m planning to do a solo game in this module.
EDIT: As an aside, how valuable do you guys usually find contour lines? They seem like a hassle to do for every hex, but maybe they aren’t?
That’s awesome!
I think, zoomed in, they can be helpful because, at a certain resolution, the usefulness of an icon for a hill evaporates and, if you want to get into the details of the terrain, the lines can be useful. That said, they’re a pain to draw and it’s very possible, depending upon how you play, that you’ll never really use the granularity that they give you.
Here is the updated version. I redraw it all in vector. I might pretty it up, add a legend, things like that.
That’s great! I might change the road color so it doesn’t blend in as much with the contour lines.
