Messed around with broken/warped grids on top of textures to get a “evocative” battlemap.
Not exact 1”x1” grids at all, but could work for a dream sequence or some maddening underground areas.

They definitely evoke a creepy atmosphere! It might be an issue actually using them in a VTT (if that’s the intention) because the grids are warped. What was your inspiration? The first one reminds me of a tattoo on an arm-- perfect for those fights on top of dead giants or smaller gods!

right - they definitely are warped on purpose, mostly to apply a “loose” idea of a grid.
I liked that they began to evoke spiderwebs and maybe rebar/fencing casting shadows or something.
Inspiration was just playing around with some texture brushes and thought the bottom image looked like a map of a creepy lake or something for a horror game.

It does! I wonder what it would look like if you overlayed hexes and maybe some symbols to turn it into a horror hexcrawl!
