Great idea!
The thought is that each Challenge has an attack with a #of D6s that you roll and assign to the characters. Like if an attack assigns 3D6 to all characters you roll those all up and each character has their own DC to beat.
*Updated the doc to include a little example of play and be more clear in how DC is determined
Just wrapped up the main rules doc and a Dungeon to run through, with lots of little spot illustrations #finishit23
Playtested for the 3rd time last night and…it did not go well haha. Somehow made it to the boss severely underpowered and with broken items, got destroyed.
I’ve changed to a different approach. To enable more seamless creation I’m doing a level’s map as a whole first. L3 Collapsed Sewers has been mapped and I’m working through doing the descriptions of the various differerent lairs, hidden spaces and dangers within.
This level’s creatures will include Giant Lizards, Ghouls and even a Ghast using an item of power to raise and control the undead on both this level and L2.
I’d often find I’d think of an area containing a few ‘spaces’ to use your cool terminology - but to trickle-feed them out over a series of days was an artificial constraint (if I had the time!) I’ve found I can do a whole level map in a day or so with planning and thought given to the reasons behind it. The time consuming part is writing up the room descriptions. Which I end up being able to dedicate much more time to using this method.
